Seriously, I know it's his first start, but he's giving it up to the Astros ... The defense behind him doesn't help either. Is it time to sell Beachy or is he a hold?

I'm in the same boat myself, same league setup and everything. I think he's worth holding onto for a month or so. See if he settles in. His stock is going to be low now, wait till after one of his 10k starts if you still want to trade him.
He just seems so inefficient and easily derailed. I know he puts up K's but will he ever put it together? Seems like a very unsafe bet if he can't hold his own vs. the Astros lineup.
I'd shop him not because of one bad game but because owners love beachy. He's still a hot commodity and your in great shape at sp. 3 great aces and good depth. You could afford to trade him but I think you do it for another pitcher.
I like the idea of trading for a less sexy name like mat latos or shaun marcum which I believe are slight upgrades.
I can't watch the game, but I saw him pitch in a couple spring games and he did not seem that way at all. Maybe its just the first start jitters. I do think you have strong enough pitching to afford shopping him but IMO he's a big sleeper to have a breakout season this year.

That makes me feel better.
I think the discouraging thing is that he had a no hitter going into the third (ok, so that's not really deep enough to call it that) but then Atlanta made 3 errors behind him and it's 3-4 Astros. It's as much the Braves' horrible defense and piss poor hitting (pardon my french) as anything else that concerns me. But yes, certainly early still.
I'd trade him straight up for Jordan Zimmermann, though, if the guy was willing. Should I offer his Beachy and Samardzija for Zimmermann? The guy was ticked when I grabbed Samardzija today so u never know.
Do that trade for sure if you can. But if hes anything like me he wont do it. One of my unwritten rules is that I will never trade for a guy who just got picked up. Just principle.
P.S.- I was also going to suggest a trade for Zimm would be wise too, just that there very similar, just less walks from Zimm.

I would not do that trade. Jordan and Beachy are similar imo, and you are giving up Samardzija too who can have a very good season. I would just say put and see how Beachy does in his next start before you rush to any decision.
Like a poster above said, Beachy looked great this spring and even looked great early on in this game. He just made a couple bad pitches in the 3rd inning that cost him.
