Bautista for Verlander?

First time guy offered me Yunel Escobar and Matt Holliday for Bautista. NO WAY!

Next he offered Justin Masterson and Holliday. Yeah my pitcher staff is bad, but no thanks.

Then he offered Josh Beckett and Holliday. I almost did it, but I like the thought of having some serious bats in the lineup.

Now he has offered Verlander for Bautista. This guy really wants Bautista bad. I'm almost want to pull the trigger, but this is the best hitting lineup I've had in years. Just wanted someone else's point of view on the trade. Thanks.

longo is your best hitter, jose is your best power hitter

but with agon, mccann, longo, grandy i do the trade.
your hitting will still do fine without jose and it will improve your pitching.

For a 10-team league, that is one terrible pitching staff. It seems to me that you will have a hard time competing in a 10-team league with that staff, but it would be nice to get more for Bautista than straight-up for Verlander. Bautista was very likely drafted higher than Verlander, so you are further reducing value to your team by making that trade. If he throws in Verlander + a reasonable offensive piece to help offset the subtraction of Bautista, you've increased depth and helped shift some power to your staff.

As for your staff, in a 10-team league, surely there are better options on the FA market than many of the guys you have. You can start by dropping Pettitte.

As far as the trade goes, go ahead and make it you have enough bats to cover and your pitching staff really needs the help that Verlander will bring.

I would never trade a top 5 bat for a SP. You really need SP help. I would try moving Castro for for a 2nd/3rd tier SP.

With INN and QS as stats, take Verlander.

This. Bautista is the best player and if the guy really wants Verlander than he should have to over-pay for him. This isn't an over-pay. I bet if you went looking you could get a better deal where you get a hitter and a SP that would be better than this.
