Drop Thornton for Peralata? I have F. Rodney. WHIR

Postby GAC8666 » Mon Apr 09, 2012 7:48 am

I had F. Rodney, Putz, Walden, Perez and Thornton. Should I drop Thornton for Peralta (TB)? It seems like Thornton is not going to be closing, and Peralata might still have a chance for the Rays.

I would hang onto Thornton and drop Rodney. I figure Peralta is going to get that job anyway.

Rodney is getting the saves for now. I'd make the move, Peralta will get another chance when Rodney starts blowing saves again. Just keep in mind that Farnsworth should be back in 4-6 weeks.

Unless you get scoring credit for Holds, I'd do the deal.

Is Peralta the best guy to pick up? Peralta is not guaranteed to close while Farnsworth is out. If Peralta is the best option then I guess I would pick him up but I hate filling my roster with could be closers. Seems like a waste of a roster spot to me.

I would keep Thornton.
He is slotted to pitch the 8th, and could get some spot saves.

Yeah, I rescind my earlier thoughts (Rodney is indeed closing, I missed that) but I would hang onto Thornton anyway because of holds. The guy is a very good setup man and no matter who ends up in the 9th, he should hang onto the 8th for those holds.
