Starting Pitcher Help..... Minor Upgrades Needed

Postby etl1692 » Mon Apr 09, 2012 12:19 am

Okay so my pitching so far has been horrendous! I'm not too worried YET, but C.C. and Lincecum did not leave me a good feeling, and Scherzer and Beckett got freakin rocked! Anyways like I said I'm not too worried, but could use minor upgrades if there is any. It also doesn't help that Carpenter and Farnsworth are on the DL!

These two names stick out: Jeff Samardzija (SP) and Jonathon Niese (SP)

I'm way more intrigued with Samardzija, and I realize that he is a wild card, be he had a great game, along with Niese............

Basically my question is anyone worth dropping for these two? I wanna jump on this opportunity before Samardzija is discovered by someone else... Drop: Danks? Sale? Jackson?

Pitching:
SP: Tim Lincecum ; SP: C.C. Sabathia ; RP: Brian Wilson ; RP: Matt Capps ; P: Josh Beckett ; P: Max Scherzer ; P: Shaun Marcum ; P: Edwin Jackson ;BN: John Danks ; BN: Chris Sale ; DL: Kyle Farnsworth DL: Chris Carpenter

League: 12 teams, H2H, Points System
Pitching: IP=1 W=10 L=-5 CG=10 SHO=10 SV=5 ER=-1 BB=-1 HBP=-1 K=-1 WP=-1 BLK=-1 Pick=2 NH=20 PG=25

I like sales upside so I'd maybe dump Danks for Sammy.

I'd say stay pat. Samardzija and Niese have never exactly had such great success as starters in the past compared to who you have now and they just look like better options right now after their 1 good starts. I'd say your most droppable is Edwin Jackson but he hasn't even made his 1st start of the year yet, so even then I'd wait for his start and if he does horrible then possibly drop him for either but right now I don't think you need to make a move.

I agree with you 100%. It is very early as it was only their 1st start, and Jackson hasn't even gone yet. I just dont want to miss out, as I'm trying to get the edge on everyone. Looking for this years sleeper!

More thoughts welcome........ Thanks guys!

Cheers!

Sale and Danks are replaceable pitchers so I would have no problem picking up Niese or Samardzija. Niese would be my first move but I wouldn't have a problem with either.

I realize that it is early but it's not like Sale and Danks were great last year and you are cutting bait on somebody that has a proven track record. Both of those guys have some upside but bottom line is that they are easily replaceable and very easily will still be on the WW a week from now if you change your mind.
