Gotta find a replacement got Upton

Postby soccrtiger13 » Sun Apr 08, 2012 12:58 pm

I'm in an 8 team AL Only Keeper league. 5 outfielders per team. No bench.
From Opening Day until the All Star Break you can only replace a player if they are traded to the NL, put on the DL or sent to the minors.

Here is my outfield... Ellsbury, Upton, Rasmus, Thames, Bourgeois. I need to pick up a replacement for Upton until he comes backs. When you pick up a player, they cost $1.00 and if you choose to keep them all season they cost $2.50 (so none of these guys are going to be keepers)
It only takes one game played to become OF eligible so here are the guys I'm looking at
Chone Figgins (4 @ TEX, 2 vs OAK
Michael Saunders (4 @ TEX, 2 vs OAK
Nolan Reimold (3 vs NYY, 3 @ TOR)
Luke Scott (3 @ DET, 3 @ BOS
Bobby Abreu (3 @ MIN, 3 @ NYY)

Which of those 5 would you take?

Give Chone Figgins a shot. Maybe a comeback type year for a guy batting atop of an improved lineup.

That's what I'm thinking. He won't hit me any home-runs. But if he can get on base he's got a chance to steal some bags. And since my team has started the year 22 for 111. I could use a little average help.

Of those, I would go with Figgins, especially if your league allows you to move him to 3b when Upton returns. Not sure if you would do that (depends on your lineup), but it is a thought.

Stay away from Abreu. Will not be playing every day.

Help with mine:

I would be allowed to move him to 3rd based but ONLY if Longoria, Lind. Morneau or Encarnacion were to get hurt and I would need a 3B (Encarnacion could slide to DH or 1B).

However I think I'd have to go for Justin Smoak or Kyle Seager if I needed a corner infielder over Figgins. Since my team is built around HR and low average.

Figgins or Scott. I would probably go with Figgins for now.
