Yahoo waivers, can someone explain this?

Postby bayside » Sun Apr 08, 2012 3:49 am

My league allows 3 adds per week. I have used all 3 so far this week.

Another owner dropped player A on Saturday.
I have the #1 waiver priority, and I made a claim on him Sunday at 12:30am PT.
He will clear waivers on Monday, and would be reflected in my roster on Tuesday.
When I hit "submit" I get
You have reached the weekly limit of 3 players added for this week. (Error #441)

1) why wont Yahoo let me make the claim, when it clearly will not go into effect until next week when Player A clears waivers and my 3 weekly adds have been renewed?
is this how it is supposed to work, or is it just bugging out?
If this IS how its supposed to work, it seems like the weekly adds option does not function well with the waiver system, which can potentially have a drastic effect on some leagues.

2) what time are waivers processed?
if I wait until after midnight on sunday night (so actually Monday), will I still have time to put my claim in?

It sounds like Yahoo won't let you make a transaction during the week in which you have already added 3 players. You also see this when you try to put a waiver claim in in which you drop a player who is currently in your active lineup and you have day of transactions. Even though the transaction will be valid by the time it processes, it won't allow you to make a pending transaction that is currently an invalid one. Hopefully you can simply wait until 3:00 AM ET tonight and repost the claim, but it sounds like the waiver period might expire at that moment.

In any case, you will at least learn how the process works this week so in the future you will know and plan accordingly.

it wont. yahoo's waiver deadline is never consistent but its never at exactly 3:00. Set an alarm for 3:00am Monday morning, make your claim, go to sleep, wake up with new player.

Surely someone (or several people) will put in a claim for him though, in which case he will never make it to FA, right?

Or do you mean ill be able to use the waiver system once my add limit resets at 3am EST?

Although the waiver process never goes through at exactly 3 AM, all players who have not been claimed become free agents at exactly that time (assuming the period expires 3:00AM tonight). It may be that after this time the "add" function will be blocked for any player who was claimed by at least one manager. This is definitely what happens in Yahoo's football game. Bayside may indeed be ineligible from adding this player, which would suck, but it would clarify the rule one way or another.
