... I just wanted to make sure you were all aware. Let me be the first to say, he is going be better then Giancarlo Stanton.
His first 3 major league hits were... 2B, HR (414 ft), HR (462 ft). He sits at 3/10 after his first 3 games. That is a pretty damn impressive start to a career. The thing that makes me so optimistic about Yoenis is that he is already making adjustments to how pitchers have been going after him. Definitely a very promising sign. Also if Billy Beane is willing to drop that kind of $$$ on him then you know hes gotta be pretty good. I honestly expect his numbers to closely resemble the above mentioned (Giancarlo), possibly even surpass.
Am I buying in too much too soon? Probably, but I really like what I see from him so far.
Vargas laid one right down the middle. Cespedes has good power, but chases balls in the dirt, and breaking balls outside a lot. Just don't throw him any fastballs. Unless he can show better plate displine, 25-30 hrs probably his area. To say he will be better then Stanton is crazy imo.

So he's ran into a couple early on, that'll likely change when everyone starts throwing everything but fastballs at him...the thing I was mostly worried about with him is holding true thus far... 0BB/5K

Yoenis's first HR was on a curve ball. So I guess dont throw him fastballs or curves? As for Stanton, I think Stanton is more of Yoenis's floor than his ceiling. Can Yoenis hit .260 with 30 HR like Stanton? Sure. However Yoenis can steal a base, if he would stop hitting balls over the fence we might just see that skill. Stanton not much of a SB threat and Stanton is one of the most over drafted players in the game.

How so?
Well, hes a fastball hitter right? Both his HRs were breaking balls.
post game interview wrote:"They tried to throw me sliders every at-bat, so I had to adjust to hit the ball," Cespedes said. "It was great to hit a home run here for the Japanese fans."
Now I'm certainly no hitting coach but I do know that it takes most young up and comers more then 2 games before you start hearing about them and the adjustments they're making.

The Cow
It was a curve, but it was a lazy hanger. He should've hit it out.
I agree with J. Low average, but he has power. Awesome? Probably not. His swing is long and pitchers don't really have a book on him yet. He's aggressive and pitchers will make him pay for that.
