Hey guys, I could definitely use another closer. I'm thinking of picking up Brett Myers off of waivers for Greg Holland, since Holland doesn't have the closer's gig locked down by any means and it's looking more and more like the Royals will be starting off with Broxton anyways. I really don't see anyone else on my roster that I'd want to drop at this point, my team is pretty stacked.
My biggest concern here is using the #2 waiver priority, especially in a keeper league where it might be valuable to be able to pick up a midseason prospect call up and keep him for next year and beyond
I'm thinking I pull the trigger on this one anyways and pick up Myers for Holland. Thoughts? WHIR

I think in your situation it would be justified to drop Holland for Myers. However, you also have to think about the fact that Broxton is signed on a 1-year deal, so he may get traded mid-season and then Holland will run away with the job.
I wouldn't do it because it's H2H. At best Myers will help you win saves a couple times in the first few months. At worst he blows up your ratios and you lose out on a stud closer/setup man in Holland. I don't see any reason to use your #2 waiver on a guy that won't make an impact on your team. I think Holland ends up with the job by May at the latest and is the better option from then on. In the mean time he'll help your ratios.
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!
Instead of picking up Myers, have you considered trading any part of your extremely strong pitching staff for a middle to upper tier closer? I have so little faith in Broxton that I do expect Holland to be the closer sooner rather than later. This way you can save your waiver priority as well.

I agree. You have a strong pitching staff, you can move one of your SPs for a top to middle tier closer. I'd try and move Gallardo, Latos, maybe even Lester. Don't drop Holland, hold onto him, I think he'll get the gig after a few poor outings for Broxton. Save that all important waiver #2, its too early in the season to be using it, especially for Myers?? He's trash, and I'm sure you'll find a closer throughout the season when closers lose their jobs or get injured.
