Best educated guess on Mets 2nd Closer?

Postby FantasySportsMaven » Tue Apr 03, 2012 7:44 am

If Frank Francisco goes on DL, which one of these guys gets the closing job while he is out?

Parnell
Rauch
Ramirez

They are all on FA right now and I want to take a shot at grabbing the right one before anything is announced.....

Short term I think Rauch because he has some experience closing. But Parnell is the best of these guys by far. So I would not be surprised if he was the closer by June.

Little help with mine?

The Mets were pretty down on Parnell by last year's end. They had dealt K-Rod, and were thinking Parnell would be their closer of the future. Then they go out and sign Ramirez, Rauch, AND Francisco? Something is up. They must have seen something they didn't like or feel confident in as a closer. Parnell is a great set-up man, but for some reason didn't impress.

Rauch
Ramirez
Parnell

in that order.

Thanks for the help.

I was thinking Parnell based on his spring performance, but then the Mets have him start a game yesterday and he throws 3 scoreless innings? Now it looks like he is being groomed as a spot starter/long reliever?

Rauch looks like a good bet, but Ramirez is said to be the "new" closer of the future for the Mets?

What kind of springs have Rauch and Ramirez been having?

I think Francisco will end up with the most saves on that club. After him I would say whoever isn't named Jon Rauch. Rauch is BAD. Really bad.
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!
