Inactive league member, what should I do?

Postby jebatzel » Thu Apr 01, 2004 4:32 pm

10 team head to head league

everyone in the league was co-workers

the inactive member doesn't work here anymore and hasn't replyed to any of my e-mails. All I know is he had back problems and now he doesn't work here any more.

yahoo didn't put anyone in their lineup, so for the first 2 games they have gottne no points.

I doubt they will return, so what should I do?

A. put his lineup in for opening day and just leave his players alone.

B. drop his whole roster which would cause another set of problems.

C. ask the league to vote on what to do?

if I leave things the way they are now it will like getting a bye week when ever they play him.

I would definetly set his lineup and leave it alone. If you drop all the players then the whole league would be unfair and complaining about how if TEAM A had #1 waiver priority why do they get him and some would get multiple good players. Too many problems.

Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

Well, assuming that you can't call him or swing by his house, option #1 is the way to go.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I'd put all of his players on the bench and leave them there for the season. No matter what you do, people are going to complain, but think about it like this.

Suppose he has what appears to be an all-star lineup at the beginning of the season. Early on, he's kicking butt and everything is fine. Then, a few of his players get nagging injuries and their production starts to drop. An active player might make some changes to improve his chances or stick with the veterans and hope they come around. As the commissioner, which do you choose?

I just think it causes fewer problems if you go ahead and give everyone a bye for the week they play the inactive owner. Seems fair to me, but like I said, I might be missing something.

Yes, I do. But with this roster, you have more issues than that. The first thing you'd need to do is finish the roster. You don't have a three-quarters of an infield. Heck, you can go ahead and fill up the roster and it would effectively give everyone a bye anyway.

Back to the point though. What happens half way through the season when a team owner has to make some tough choices? I just think it's a lot easier to give every owner a bye the week they play this team and move on. The league title will be decided by how the teams do against the active owners. Sure Gagne and others will be unavailable, but they would be unavailable if this guy was active as well.

Anyway, it's your league, so you need to do what's best for you. I'm just letting you know what I'd do in the same situation. Good luck!

I agree with Apex, if you can't contact him, make it a bye week playing him.
