No Chapman, so?? WHIR

Postby oldmanbean » Mon Apr 02, 2012 1:14 pm

Well, Dusty did it and placed Chapman in the setup role. Should I rush and drop Cecil, and if so, for who? Or should I hang on and wait for some late bloomer?? Key here is Axford being my #6 pitcher according to CBS projections. Would the pitcher I get slot in ahead of him?

Here are the waiver wire pitchers I am scouting:

Lohse
Maholm
Milone
Mendoza
Feldman
Millwood

12 team points keeper league.
15 hitters, 10 pitchers.
1 point per TB, bb = 1, r = 1, rbi = 2, sb = 2, cs = -1
IP = 1, K = 1, W = 10, QS = 5, S = 5, BS = -5,L=-5,ER=-2,BB=-1
We start 1 at each position plus an EH. 6 pitchers, weeekly lineups

C B McCann 12, Y Molina 4
1B M Cabrera 28, Carp 7
2B J Kipnis 3, D Uggla 17
3B M Gamel 4, R Zimmerman 12
SS E Andrus 9, D Gordon 4
OF J Bautista 11, M Cabrera 8, H Pence 14, I Suzuki 4, D Young 2
P J Axford 3, B Beachy 6, B Cecil 2, D Hudson 11, C Lee 19
H Noesi 2, A Pettitte 2, E Volquez 4, A Wainwright 6, J Zimmermann 10

I don't like any of those option and would hang on to Chapman. He could end up being the closer as no one has been named to that role just yet.

I'd drop Petitte for Chapman in a heartbeat.

really ... Chapman has no defined role yet. If he is setup, he is worthless in my league.

Because Pettite is worthless and has no potential. Chapman at least has potential.

I agree. As of right now Chapman has way more potential then Pettite. In fact, every option you listed has more potential then Pettite right now. IMO.

As someone above stated, Chapman still has a chance to grab the closer job. Even though it looks like Sean Marshall will take the job. So if you dont want to take a chance with Chapman, go for Lohse.

So you don't think Pettite will be worth anything come mid-May?? He HAS to be worth more than Cecil....

I only have 5 waiver picks, so until I hear them announcing Chapman as the closer, can't risk it.

Would Lohse be better than Axford??

Thanks

If you are punting saves then you can make that move. But why not try and trade Axford before you just drop him?

Check our scoring system. RP get points for saves. We do not have categories, so he is only my #6 point getter. I would dump Cecil, not Axford for Lohse but only if Lohse would be more valuable than Axford.
