A two month old toddler, Todd Billings, signed an enormous, $500,000 contract yesterday, setting a new record for major league contracts given to players yet to pick up an official sized baseball. Billings' potential was first spotted by the Detroit Tigers at a home game against the Boston Red Sox. The infant was holding a baseball chew toy, one that caught the eye of a member of Detroit's front office. Immediately, sources confirm, the family was called upon my Detroit's General Manager, who ordered a contract be signed that day. Although Todd hasn't yet uttered his first word, one thing is for sure, he will be getting his first paycheck in the mail after he reports to opening day for the Detroit Tigers.
Now, now guys... don't you think you're being a little bit harsh? Sure, it's an old joke, but it's at least a *little* bit funny.
Okay, not laugh out loud, punch yourself in the nads funny. Not really an April Fools Day hoax either, but last year's joke about ground rule triples and abolishment of saves wasn't that great of a hoax either (although not because I didn't believe it, but because I couldn't see why I should care).
