I'm in a 10-team league, roto, 6 x 6 (reg 5 x 5 categories plus OPS and Holds)
Start: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 3 OFs, Util, 3 SPs, 2 RPs and 5 Ps.
I drafted 5th. After waiver wire add/drops (no trades yet), my roster is as follows:
C Posey 1B Berkman 2B Ryan Roberts 3B Mark Reynolds SS Tulowitski OF Brett Gardner, Ichiro, and Carlos Lee Util Adam Lind Bench: Chris Young, Scutaro, Werth, Lucroy, Alexei Ramirez
SP Halladay, Felix Hernandez, J Weaver RP Mariano Rivera, Valverde P Hamels, Ubaldo, Joel Peralta, Bill Bray, Edward Mujica Bench: None
Is offering Weaver and Chris Young for Hunter Pence and Heath Bell a fair trade? The other owner says he needs SP help.
I am considering dropping Ubaldo for a middle reliever or possible closer (Bard, Lidge, Melancon, Affeldt, Casilla).
That's not a terrible trade. Carlos Lee is not your ideal OF3 in a 10 team league, so this would give you a boost.
Also, you've got several players on your roster that you need to drop immediately. In a 10 team league, even one that counts holds, I flat-out guarantee you can find better players on the FA list:
Scutaro - there's little reason to carry one backup SS, let alone two. Lucroy - ditto backup catchers. If Posey goes down, in a 10 team league it's not like you'll be hurting for options. Bill Bray - I know you count holds, but there are better options out there. In this shallow a league you should be able to find holds guys that routinely put up 9+ K/9, and that's not Bray. Edward Mujica - he's a decent setup guy, but my gut says there are better RP options out there.
I'd drop all these guys for higher upside RP to fill out your P spots, then grab as many high risk/high reward SP as you can.

I would rather have Weaver and Young. I agree with most of the above except for Scutaro. I think he is a good player and under-rated by most. If anything I would look to make a trade with one of these SS for something.
