I just want to get a couple of opinions regarding Herges now being the closer untill Nen comes back. With what happened to Worrell last year (high amount of saves) do you think Herges can do something like Worrell pulled off last year?
its possible, but i think the giants are going to be awful this year. if jason schmidt isnt lights out all year, a last place finish is very possible. they have nothing, and nobody is talking about it. obviously they have bonds, but does anyone have faith in michael tucker, edgardo alfonzo and JT Snow to protect him? i think there will be very few save chances for whoever closes, so im staying away.

what';s awful? 80 wins. If they win 80 there will be more than enough save chances for Herges (or whoever closes) to save 30-35. Plus, the fact that their offense is weak means they'll play more low scoring, tighter games. IMO Nen will not make it back. Herges looks great in spring and had an awesome second ahlf last year. I think he'll do similarly to worrell last year.
as has been pointed out many many times before, the Brew Crew had the most save opps last year and their record was terrible
Herges will have plenty of chances if Nen stays injured. I think Nen will probably come back at some point and then get injured again so Herges will end up with 20-25 saves and decent ratios.

I have never seen Herges pitch so I can't tell you if hes amazing or not but opn a team like the Giants I think he'll definetly get you the saves. ERA might be high though.
Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!
Herges will do as good or better than Worrell did, methinks. And no, lots of wins doesn't mean lots of save opps. Milwaukee and Pittsburgh were I think #1 and #2 in save opps.

Lots of wins never means a lot of save opprotunities, usually its the other way around. Thats why people like Dotel should be worried, when you have TOO MUCH offense that leads to less save opprotunities.
