I’m in a 12 team keeper league with 40 man rosters (15 active hitters, 10 active pitchers, 15 bench… totaling 480 players) and a $450 cap per team. Each team gets 15 keepers (180 protected players), so the draft gets thin pretty quick. Below are the players that I think are the top 16, because of talent and/or value.
How would you rank them?
Gonzalez, Adrian $39 Pedroia, Dustin $27 Kinsler, Ian $32 Wainwright $1 (because he didn’t play last year) Holliday, Matt $31 Pence, Hunter $38 Halladay, Roy $49 Verlander, Justin $50 Young, Michael $34 Papelbon, Jonathan $29 Victorino, Shane $34 Zobrist, Ben $32 Betancourt, Rafael $18 Motte, Jason $15 Cespedes, Yoenis $1 Sabathia, CC $49
3-Gonzalez, Adrian $39 2-Pedroia, Dustin $27 4-Kinsler, Ian $32 1-Wainwright $1 (because he didn’t play last year) 11-Holliday, Matt $31 13-Pence, Hunter $38 7-Halladay, Roy $49 5-Verlander, Justin $50 10-Young, Michael $34 9-Papelbon, Jonathan $29 14-Victorino, Shane $34 12-Zobrist, Ben $32 16-Betancourt, Rafael $18 15-Motte, Jason $15 8-Cespedes, Yoenis $1 6-Sabathia, CC $49
5-Gonzalez, Adrian $39 9-Pedroia, Dustin $27 7-Kinsler, Ian $32 13-Wainwright $1 (because he didn’t play last year) 3-Holliday, Matt $31 11-Pence, Hunter $38 2-Halladay, Roy $49 1-Verlander, Justin $50 6-Young, Michael $34 12-Papelbon, Jonathan $29 14-Victorino, Shane $34 8-Zobrist, Ben $32 16-Betancourt, Rafael $18 15-Motte, Jason $15 10-Cespedes, Yoenis $1 4-Sabathia, CC $49

Sorry no... this is not my protection list, its the top guys available in the draft, and I'm wondering how people would rank them given their salaries. So far the first two replies have had wildly different opinions which is certainly interesting...

i did it based on talent and value, that is why wainwright is 1 because getting him for $1 would be a steal. also why pedoria is 2, getting him 5-10$ cheaper then most top players and has the same ability. also why cespedes is higher then most would have $1 value for a potential 30 hr guy. and pence is low i do not like him for $38

Ok, so with 12 teams, where do you pick?

I pick 4th... so this list would take me to my #2 pick. I'm thinking Pedroia #1 (I have no 2B and he's elite and affordable), Gonzalez #2 (again, paying for dependable elite hitter), Kinsler #3 (again top player at thin position of need, but I dont really trust him), #4 Wainwright (totally dont trust him, and its my only chance to get a top hitter, but at $1 he might be a steal for years in a keeper league). I've love to add an ace, but dont think I could swallow the cost of Verlander or Halladay...

I missed AGon but would slot him in at number 7 and bump everyone down one. I don't play in an auction league so take these w a grain of salt, but you have to love wainwright for a buck. He's looked great this spring. Thanks for help on mine.
