First pick in a keeper league tonight and these 3 will be my best options. Which one do you grab?
12 team 5x5 H2H mixed league. Start 13 offense, 9 pitchers. Starting off with Miggy, The Artist Formerly Known As Mike Stanton, Greinke, and Bumgarner. Future years are no consideration because I won't be able to keep whoever I draft.
Halladay would lock down pitching for sure. I'd have to focus on offense a ton for the next 10 rounds. Adrian with Miggy and Stanton would give me a huge HR, RBI, and Runs head start. I could either punt SB or draft a couple specialists in the late rounds. Hanley would give me the nice balanced start in a scarce position. Feel like he's a bigger risk of bust than Adrian though.
In our keeper league we have 12 teams and each keep 6. SP dried up UBER fast, leaving a lot of 4th tier options pretty quick. For that reason, Halladay is tempting if you get CGs as a stat and see good hitting likely available with your second and third picks.
Adrian and Miggy is tempting because you will need to get 1B covered anyway, and if you wait you may find a Konerko or Hosmer but no guarantee.
I have Hanley and hope for a big year. But it's not a horrible option to get one of those other guys and snag a Dee Gordon or Bonifacio to sure up speed and SS.
All in all, I might lean Halladay but I am partial to dominant pitching staffs.
I say Halladay. You simply aren't going to be able to replace that kind of SP much later. But having Miggy and A Gon in the same lineup would be great. I would avoid Hanley with the first pick. Too much risk there. He was a disappointment last year and he may not take well to shifting to 3B. Bringing Zambrano on board is just going to make one cluster of a clubhouse. No telling what happens in Miami.
