Should this trade be vetoed??

Postby ncroyals » Wed Mar 28, 2012 4:43 pm

Im in a 12 person H2H Points league. This trade come up this week between two other competitors.

5 votes to veto and a trade is stopped. Right now this trade has 4 to veto and 3 to allow. I have not voted and wanted others insight.

The trade is Adam Lind and Mat Latos for Adrian Gonzalez.

My argument against is this is a first round first baseman for a 7th round 1st baseman and a 13 round pitcher. The guy giving up Latos can pick a pitcher off the waivers to get him within 100 points of their projected 2012 points total. I think its too one sided and favors the one picking up Gonzalez.

Tell me what you think.

I like the AGon side, but i wouldn't veto.
Latos is a nice SP, and Lind is a 25/80 guy.

Some people like to veto to maintain the "competitive balance" of the league. If someone wants to make what looks like a bad deal on the surface, I say let them. Whose to say that Lind doesn't hit 40Hr, Latos becomes a top 5 SP, and this deal looks like a steal? Is it probable, of course not, but I tend to come from the side that let people manage their own teams.

I would only veto something if collusion were clearly evident. I have seen some "bad" trades work out well for both teams involved.

I only run a Football league (this is my first year playing baseball). I agree with the above...unless I think one owner is just dumping players or there is collusion...or if it is really in the best interest of the league which pretty much always is related to one of the first two...lol
Just finished draft...how did I do?

As long as both owners think they are improving their teams I say let it ride.

I would veto a AGon for Scutaro trade.
But Latos and Lind are not bums.
