Dynasty Team - Need Advice

Postby Micaelis » Tue Mar 27, 2012 12:03 am

Hey everyone, I'm in 20 team dynasty league, H2H, 6x6 (obp, holds). 18 players get kept at end of the season. Here is my roster currently:

C: Devin Mesoraco (CIN)
1B: Eric Hosmer (KC)
2B: Neil Walker (PIT)
3B: Lonnie Chisenhall (CLE)
SS: Troy Tulowitzki (COL)
IF: Scott Rolen (CIN)
OF: Cameron Maybin (COL)
OF: Delmon Young (DET)
OF: Jason Bourgeous (KC)
OF: (empty)
UT: (empty)

SP: Matt Moore (TB)
SP: Tommy Hanson (ATL)
SP: Jordan Zimmerman (WAS)
RP: Brad Lidge (WAS)
RP: Andrew Cashner (SD)
P: (empty)
P: (empty)

BN: Mike Trout
BN: Nolan Arenado
BN: Wil Myers
BN: Bubba Starling
BN: Julio Teheran
BN: Jacob Turner
BN: Shelby Miller
BN: Gerrit Cole
BN: Jameson Taillon

DL: Brett Anderson
DL: Chase Utley

So, my main issue is that I have 2 offensive positions empty, although I'm sure Mike Trout will be called up sooner or later to fill up one of them. And of course, I'm running on a skeleton pitching staff, with 3 starters, 1 closer, and 1 hold guy. The thing is, all of my prospects are generally accepted to be in the top 20 in all of baseball, or close to it, so I'm reluctant to drop any of them for a mostly useless everyday player, or a semi productive backup player (that's really all that is available at this point).

So, what would you do in my position? Who would you drop, if anyone? Or would you stick it out for now knowing you'll have an awesome team in the not too distant future?

Thanks for reading. =D

Hi.

As you know, you got a blessing and a curse because your minors system is the best part of your team. I would not look to be dropping these guys, but I certainly would be shopping them quite aggressively. I personally would look to move the prospects that are farther away, namely Bubba and Taillon. I would also pick one of the NL Sps to move too. My pick would be Teheran. These guys have to be worth an OF and a decent current SP to a prospect hound in your league (stay young though, don't get anybody in their thirties). Trout Arenado, Turner and Shelby are all going to be playing real soon so stay patient with those guys and better days should be around the corner.

You still have a draft coming up?

Thanks for the advice. As an update, I've picked up AJ Pierzynski and managed to agree to a trade giving up Nolan Arenado and Andrew Cashner for Edwin Jackson and Travis Snyder. So my updated roster looks like:

C: Devin Mesoraco (CIN)
1B: Eric Hosmer (KC)
2B: Neil Walker (PIT)
3B: Scott Rolen (CIN)
SS: Troy Tulowitzki (COL)
IF: (empty)
OF: Cameron Maybin (COL)
OF: Delmon Young (DET)
OF: Jason Bourgeous (KC)
OF: (empty)
UT: AJ Pierzynski (CWS)

SP: Matt Moore (TB)
SP: Tommy Hanson (ATL)
SP: Jordan Zimmerman (WAS)
RP: Brad Lidge (WAS)
RP: (empty)
P: Edwin Jackson (WAS)
P: (empty)

BN: Mike Trout
BN: Lonnie Chisenhall
BN: Travis Snyder
BN: Bubba Starling
BN: Julio Teheran
BN: Jacob Turner
BN: Shelby Miller
BN: Gerrit Cole
BN: Jameson Taillon

DL: Brett Anderson
DL: Chase Utley

The bad news is Chisenhall was just demoted to AAA, so I still need another IF, OF, RP, and possibly SP. I'd really have to destroy my team to fill all those spots. Snyder is expendable, but its hard to figure out where to find the 3 other prospects to lose. I'm not sure how to go about doing this while keeping some of my important pieces, so any advice is appreciated! :)
