Of your 6 keepers, how many are entering their last year as your keeper? In other words...I'm thinking about keeper longevity.
You're giving up Cain and Montero, who could both potentially be keepers for next year.
Whereas you'd be getting back a haul where I only really see one potential keeper (Hamels).
Sometimes that is a good way of judging the usefulness of trades. I like Hamels as a slight upgrade over Cain, but is it worth giving up the potential keeper-ness of Montero? I think that's the ultimate question you have to answer for yourself. Because in reality, Romero/Zimm is probably a wash. And while Ortiz may put up similar/better numbers than Montero THIS year, you also have to think long-term a bit as well.

All my 6 keepers can be kept thru the end of next season (so they are entering year two of a 3 year contract). I drafted Montero this year, as I did Cain, so those guys are in year 1 of a potential 3 years contract if I elect to keep them. We can only keep 6 players.
Well, if all 6 of your keepers can be kept again...maybe go for the slight pitcher upgrade? It's a shame to not at least take one year with Montero to see how he does, though...

I know ... that's the part I am not wild about. I would rather hang onto Montero. If I could get him to do Cain and Romero for Hamels and Zimmermann would it be worth it or is it kind of a wash?
Well, the thing is, I think the allure of the trade for him is Montero. So if you remove the Montero/Ortiz aspect of the trade, then I don't think he'd have much interest.
Like I said, this deal really comes down to your willingness to deal Montero. Would you be upgrading your pitching? In my opinion, yes. Hopefully you can get some other opinions. Cain/Romero is nothing to sneeze at. But I do like Hamels and a potential non-innings limited Zimmermann a bit more.

That is really my goal... to upgrade my rotation. I just wish I was doing it by shipping off Lewis or Anibal for someone a tier up, ya know?
I wouldn't worry about your SP. Sanchez is decent. i don't care for the guys in your UT. I would find a buyer for Avila, get a bat back, and get Montero as C, not UT.

Hamels slightly better than Cain. Hamels in reality quite a bit better, but the ballpark factors tend to even them out.
Zimmerman much better than Worley, especially ERA and WHIP.
Montero I like a lot. I think he'll still deliver a line like .290-22-70-90. Dunn has looked better this spring, but I want to see it when the season begins. Even if he does return to form, his BA will be a major drag on a team.
