My Jason Motte for His Dee Gordon

Postby Devil Doc » Mon Mar 26, 2012 5:54 pm

10 teams, H2H 5x5 scoring

Start: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, MI, CI, 3 OF, 2 UTIL - 5 SP, 2 RP, 2 P - 7 BENCH

I was able to get Longoria for Andrus, and now I'm without a SS, but Mike Aviles is on the WW and will probably add him. Is this trade worth while?

My Team:

C: C. Santana, B. Posey
1B: I. Davis, J. Morneau, M. Gamel, B. Belt
2B: J. Weeks, A. Hill
3B: E. Longoria, B. Lawrie, S. Rodriguez
SS: S. Rodriguez
OF: J. Upton, CarGo, D. Jennings, B. Belt, V. Wells, B. Harper

SP: F. Hernandez, C. Hamels, M. Bumgarner, B. Beachy, J. Johnson, C. Carpenter, E. Jackson, J. Parker, J. Niese
RP: J. Motte, J. Walden, S. Santos

I love Jason Motte this year. I think he will be lights out.

Sean Rodriguez is intriging at SS. His main competiion, Reid Brijac is battling injuries, so Rodriguez may get his chance to establish himself as the starter.

Dee Gordon will swipe a lot of bags if he can get on base. A two tool player at best (runs and sb- which will be exceptional)

You'll also need three closers to compete in a 10 team league.

I would consider countering with Santos with E.Jackson or S. Rodriguez for Gordon and a second player, maybe a low end closer like B. Myers or G. Balfour if he has one.

I would hang on to your top two closers Motte/Walden.

Please help with mine.

I don't like the deal. I think Motte is a solid closer and there are too many worries about Gordon. I am by far one of the guys on this board who is down on Gordon. I just don't think he hits enough to steal enough bases to be worth it. He doesn't walk and a one category player can only be so helpful.

I might try and deal Lawrie or Longoria for Tulo. You have some depth to get a deal like that done.
