Pedroia for Hamels

Postby Dubjay » Mon Mar 26, 2012 3:37 pm

I was just proposed this deal in my 5X5 H2H keeper league(keep 10).

My C.HAMELS for his D.PEDROIA

Heres my squad

C-A.AVILA
1B-M.TEIXEIRA
2B-K.JOHNSON
3B-B.LAWRIE
SS-J.ROLLINS
OF-M.KEMP
OF-N.CRUZ
OF-C.GRANDERSON
UTIL-E.HOSMER
UTIL-BJ UPTON
BENCH-C.HART, J.MAYBERRY JR.

SP-T.LINCECUM
SP-C.HAMELS
SP-M.BUMGARNER
RP-M.RIVERA
RP-S.SANTOS
P-N.FELIZ
P-J.JOHNSON(BAL)
BENCH-B.NORRIS, S.BAKER, T.LILLY, G.HOLLAND

I normally would consider dealing Hamels as i think he has a good chance to bring home the CY YOUNG in the NL this year. But PEDROIA is tempting. 2b is probably my weakest position this year. I am a lil concerned though that if i deal one of my top 3 starters, i could suffer with my pitching. Feliz, Baker, Lilly and Norris have all had some injury issues this preseason.

What do you guys think?
Any help greatly appreciated ;-D

I didn't even look at your lineups, just do the trade.

If you can do it, do it. This is a huge upgrade at 2nd base for you. And you have enough pitching to support the move. And put it this way, Pedroi is an early 2nd round pick. Hamels is late 3rd to 4th round. Great value before the year starts.

I really hope you already accepted that trade.

Yes do the trade, and then use a combo of your bench players in a trade to refortify your SP in a 2 for 1 deal.

Please help with my question. Here is the link.

I see the upgrade at 2B with Pedroia over Johnson. Don't get me wrong. But I am thinking that the downgrade from Hamels to whoever is available on the FA list might be too big to make it worth it.

Its pretty slim picking as far as FA starting pitching goes

E.VOLQUEZ
E.BEDARD
D.BARD
T.STAUFFER
G.FLOYD
J.NIESE

Still think i should pull the trigger?

No doubt, take it. If you stay active on the FA list, you'll find good pitchers later.
