Drafted Last Night- Rate My Team UPDATED (WHIR)

Postby Choptoberfest » Mon Mar 26, 2012 3:07 pm

EDIT: Just completed a trade: Scherzer/Hart for Holliday. So here is my updated team:

ESPN, 12 Teams, 5x5 H2H

C: Carlos Santana
1B: Michael Cuddyer
2B: Neil Walker
3B: Evan Longoria
SS: Dee Gordon
OF: Carlos Gonzalez
OF: Carl Crawford
OF: Matt Holliday
UTIL: Jesus Montero
UTIL: Adam Dunn
Bench: Aaron Hill
Bench: Mike Carp
Bench: Yoenis Cespedes
Bench: Jason Bay

SP: Dan Haren
SP: David Price
RP: Jordan Walden
RP: Carlos Marmol
P: Ian Kennedy
P: Jhoulys Chacin
P: Ubaldo Jimenez
P: Brandon Morrow
Bench: Pitcher to be picked up later

Overall, I'm pretty happy with my team, wish I would have drafted 1B and 2B earlier. I was gonna take Prince in the second round, but they guy who picked before me (who had already picked A Gon in the 1st) took Fielder.

Top to bottom, I really don't love your team.

To be brutally honest, Who did you even take in rounds 1-3? Cargo?Haren?

You have a lot of solid guys and should finish around the middle of the pack. Love David Price this year.

1. Longoria
2. Cargo
3. Haren

I had 9th pick in the draft. I really wish I would've gotten Fielder in the 2nd.

Your OF is in rough shape... 2 of your 3 starting OF are already injured and your bench OF have big question marks. Also, I don't see any need to carry 2 Catchers. Drop Saltalamacchia and find some OF depth.

Love the SPs.
Outfield needs some work.
I suggest when Jesus gets C elbigilty you trade for an OF.

I do not like Cuddyer at 1B, and you dont have much hitting depth.
You are a few moves a way from a solid team.

If montero ends up getting catchers eligibility then i'd shit either him or santana for an upgrade at 1st, 2nd, or short. I think your fine in the outfield and you are more then set at pitching

Dropped Salty and picked up Jason Bay (it was either him, Smoak, or Ibanez). I really liked Smoak, but no OF eligibility, and since he's only owned in around 2% of ESPN leagues, I figured I could pick him up later if I wanted.

I'm starting Carp and Cespedes in place of Crawford and Hart, hing the young guys start off hot. But do you guys think I have the pitching depth to trade for a big bat? There's a guy in my league with Batista, who doesn't have much pitching and was thinking I could package one of my pitchers and Longoria for him?

EDIT: I know Cuddyer isn't one of the big name hitters (and doesn't play 1B anymore), but I like that fact that he is playing at Coors Field, which should add to his power numbers. I pretty much had to settle for him, after missing Prince int the 2nd, and I missed Michael Morse (who I love this year) the pick just before I drafted Cuddyer.

i love your mix of speed and power and your pitching looks decent enough. not so sure you have the pitching depth to trade for more hitters, though. i see you also like chacin?

You have a pretty good mix of speed and power, as has been said. I see you're taking flak for the Cuddyer at first and I tend to agree. That said, your assesment that he will have a good year at Coors field I believe is true as well. So if you can slot him at first, why not? He's probably better than what you can get on waivers.

Your pitching is your strong point. I do think that if you could swing a deal for Batista I'd do it, though I'm still not a buyer on Batista's past two years. But hey...I've been wrong before.

Thanks for the review on mine last night.
