Prospect Selection Help Please

Postby ChicksDigTheLongBall » Mon Mar 26, 2012 1:57 pm

I am on the clock for our minor league (6 slots) reserve draft. This is a $300 mixed 6x6 roto league with OPS and K/9 as 6th cats. 2 catcher, MI, CI, 5 OF, 10 P, 6 bench and the aforementioned 6 minors slots to go with the usual positions.

Minor League players are all given $3 salaries and can be kept up to 4 years at a 20% annual increase following the season that they go over their rookie requirements.

I am going in with Jesus Montero and Manny Machado already. I have 2nd pick and have targeted these players. Who would you take and how would you rate them?

Wil Myers
Jurickson Profar
Gerrit Cole
Danny Hultzen
Tyler Skaggs
Randall Delgado
Jacob Turner
Bubba Starling
Dylan Bundy
Drew Pomeranz

Thanks for the help

I'm not sure how to answer this as I don't know your team needs but I would probably stay away from players that will likely lose prospect status this season like Delgado, Turner, Pomeranz, and possibly Skaggs. I'd probably go with someone like Profar, Myers, or a non-hs arm like Cole or Hultzen. There I narrowed it down to 4, so base your pick on which one would help your team more.

Profar and Starling because I prefer hitting prospects
Bundy though may be the best prospect of them all

Maybe true but he said best available which to me means he does not care how many years it takes from them to make the big leagues

I went with Wil Myers and have 2 more picks coming up later today. Skaggs, Profar, Cole and Starling have been selected, I am hoping a couple of these guys hang for my next 2 picks.

Is there anyone I don't have listed that you recommend?

Go with Bundy/Hultzen now.

Arenado?
T Walker?
Sano?
Lindor?

Nice pick in Myers. It would have been between him and Profar. I slightly prefer Profar because it is near impossible to find a SS.

I like Lindor if he's still around with your next pick unless Bundy drops.
