Fair Trade offer?

Postby tkhitter » Mon Mar 26, 2012 12:42 pm

I am in the "typical" 12 man head to head league and have been offered this trade:
Getting:
Paul Konerko
Ted Lilly

Giving:
Josh Hamilton

I would be able to easily accommodate Konerko into my everyday lineup and have plenty of outfielders.
Thanks for the opinions

This seems like a scenario where Konerko is getting massively underrated again. He's been a bankable 30 HRs and 100 RBIs the last 2 seasons, and the year before that (2009) he was 28-88.

Hamilton, meanwhile, is coming off a 25-94 season. Granted, he had injuries, but there are enough question marks that I might want the durability of Konerko.

Throw in the fact that I'm getting a mid-round pitcher, and I'm actually ok with taking the "less sexy" names for the "sexy" name.
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

I don't mind either side of this deal - who do you drop for Mr. Lilly? Also make sure the AARP is aware of this move as each guy you get is about 50 :)

I would likely drop Edinson Volquez to make room for Lilly

I would rather have Hamilton. Hamilton has shown us what his upside is and there are few players that can match that. Konerko is nice but there is a point where he isn't going to keep it up any longer and I am all about trading a guy a year early than a year late. If I had Hamilton, I would probably be looking to deal him but for something younger not older.
