D. Hudson for H. Kendrick?! WHIR

Postby wingman3110 » Mon Mar 26, 2012 11:09 am

12 team 5x5 roto redraft. Here's my team. I definitely feel and know that I am light on pitching.

C- Matt Wieters
1B - Joey Votto
2B- Howie Kendrick
3B- Ryan Zimmerman
SS- Derek Jeter
OF- Jacoby Ellsbury
OF- Matt Holliday
OF- Hunter Pence
UT- Jayson Werth
UT- Ike Davis
Bn- Brennan Boesch
Bn- Mat Gamel

SP- Jon Lester
SP- Matt Garza
RP- Joel Hanrahan
RP- Frank Francisco
P- Sean Marshall
P- Anibal Sanchez
P- Cory Luebke
Bn- Brandon McCarthy
Bn- Erik Bedard
Bn- Francisco Liriano

What do you guys think? Pull the trigger or stay put? The available 2B on the waiver wire that I would acquire are Jose Altuve, Allen Craig, and Ryan Raburn. The only other 2B on his roster is Ben Zobrist.

Personally I say stick with Howie. In a 12 team redraft there are going to be plenty of pitchers out there who are going to put up numbers that you can snag off the wire.

I think D. Hudson is the best pitcher in Arizona, yes even ahead of Kennedy, but Kendrick will have the benefit of a really strong lineup. Either way would be beneficial.

Kendrick is one of my monster sleepers for this year. Look at what he did last year and consider the guys that were hitting at 3.

Now think of what could happen if he did the same exact thing (in terms of OBP) with Pujols hitting behind him. He could have another 10-15 runs scored possibly, and that's a very conservative estimate. When all is said and done, I think Howie puts up a top 5 2B fantasy season.

Now would you trade top 5 2B upside for Daniel Hudson?
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

Stick with Kendrick, pitchers always come out of the wood works and you can grab one later on. If minor isn't taken then have a look at him, he is having a pretty good spring on an improved ATL team.

I would make the trade, and drop Bedard for Raburn.
Kendrick is nice, but last year was really his 1st big year.
