Trading for C.J. Wilson

Postby Hogger1 » Sun Mar 25, 2012 1:41 pm

In our 12 team keeper league, I was offered C.J. Wilson for Axford and Hellickson.

We use weekly lineups, 4 SP, 2 RP and a P slot.

I also have Hanrahan and Motte, so I would still have 2 closers. (he won't take one of the other 2 closers for sure)
I also have Darvish, Hanson, Latos, Niese and Alvarez as starters and next year we expand from 5 to 7 keepers and 2 keepers must be pitchers.

There are no closers on the free agent list, but obviously you can always find saves later if needed, so I think it's a decent trade, just not sure if I gain enough.

Do it, or no?

Could also get Pineda for Axford straight up.

Not the Pineda deal. He might not even start in the majors.

The Wilson deal is close. I think Hellickson is better than most people think but this deal would really help your rotation so I would probably do it. I might try and get another player from him though. He is going to drop 1 player so see if you can get something decent in return.

If you are feeling good about your closers I would definitely take CJ. I think he will be just as good or better with his new ballpark, while a lot of people have Hellickson projected for regression.
