Morneau Thoughts WHIR

Postby kvh_1fan » Sun Mar 25, 2012 8:09 am

How does everyone feel about him this year? He just hit two home runs in a game and says he feels good. I think if he gets to DH more then he could be very productive this year.

I was offered Jose Tabata for him in a dynasty league. Now I don't really like this offer, but do you think I should just try and get whatever I can for him since the risks are so high?

Tough call...depends on scoring and what your roster looks like. Personally, I think he could be a great payoff if he really is healthy and am considering picking him up off waivers now myself...butwould like to see more from him before declaring him back. I would only take a chance on him right now if I had roster space available or there was no one that was clearly better available.

So without knowing more I think I would take Tabata..as he is more likely to meet expectations...even if Morneau's ceiling is higher if he truly returns to old form (which I think is def possible but still a bit of a risk). I just worry about guys who miss that much time with multiple injuries including a serious concussion.

But I reserve the right to change my mind if your list your scoring and roster...and you have the means to gamble on Morneau.

Little help on mine?

I don't know why my signature didn't attach but here's the roster. I have depth at 1B so Morneau is on my bench. If he starts playing well he will go to one of the two utility spots we have which I currently have Weeks and Belt at.

That's a very tough call. risk/ reward.

Are you a gambler? Risk taker? Or do you like safe and sure?
If you like to take risks, take a chance for a big payday, keep Monreau.
If you sweat these decisions and toss and turn at night when faced with tough calls, take Tabata.

This decision has to mimic your personality.

Thanks for help with mine.

It is a tough call because of the injury risk, but if he is healthy he can really put up some solid numbers. For me, I would keep him and gamble that he is past the concussion stuff and is ready to get back to playing baseball.

I like him...concussions dont sap power (unlike a wrist or elbow injury). I think as he plays more and more he is going to improve through the year. I like him and morales this year

thanks for the help

I stick with Morneau here. He's been so productive in the past, think he is in line for a solid bounce back year.

I'd also take the risk with Morneau. I'm not a big fan of Tabata, and Morneau's reward potential could be high.
