Tough call...depends on scoring and what your roster looks like. Personally, I think he could be a great payoff if he really is healthy and am considering picking him up off waivers now myself...butwould like to see more from him before declaring him back. I would only take a chance on him right now if I had roster space available or there was no one that was clearly better available.
So without knowing more I think I would take Tabata..as he is more likely to meet expectations...even if Morneau's ceiling is higher if he truly returns to old form (which I think is def possible but still a bit of a risk). I just worry about guys who miss that much time with multiple injuries including a serious concussion.
But I reserve the right to change my mind if your list your scoring and roster...and you have the means to gamble on Morneau.
I don't know why my signature didn't attach but here's the roster. I have depth at 1B so Morneau is on my bench. If he starts playing well he will go to one of the two utility spots we have which I currently have Weeks and Belt at.
Are you a gambler? Risk taker? Or do you like safe and sure? If you like to take risks, take a chance for a big payday, keep Monreau. If you sweat these decisions and toss and turn at night when faced with tough calls, take Tabata.
It is a tough call because of the injury risk, but if he is healthy he can really put up some solid numbers. For me, I would keep him and gamble that he is past the concussion stuff and is ready to get back to playing baseball.
