3rd or 4th round too early for Oswalt(12 team)?

Is this too early to take him assuming I take all hitters with my first 2 or 3 picks. Drafting tomorrow.....Thanks

I think, barring injury, he's a legit 1st starter on a fantasy team.

Go with the best player strategy.

Some players to avoid. R. Harden, Ensberg, & Mid Relivers (they have no value except for Santana), Jerome Williams, A. Rhodes, J. Weaver. Do your homework.

Check for injured players like T. Nixon, Nomar, Prior, Schmit, Nen, etc. Downgrade appropriately.

2. Santana isn't a mid-reliever this year, he's a starter

i drafted oswalt in the 4th round in a couple of my drafts.

Great question -
My experience is that you have to read your competition and the draft. 3rd rd may be a bit early for Os - I would say start looking at him in the 4th. If you want to take a chance and hope he will come back in the 5th or possibly 6th , it is possible.

Ive seen him go as late as the 7th rd in 12 team leagues.

Luckily he's rated pretty low on Yahoo's ratings and I think at least half of the guys in my league used Yahoo as a basis for making their ratings.

Oswalt should contend for the NL Cy Young this year...definetly a good pick-up in the 5th!
