My Crawford For His Weaver

Postby brenzie » Fri Mar 23, 2012 3:45 pm

h2h, 10 team

My guys:

c-Arencibia
1b-Cabrera
2b-Pedroia
3b-Beltre
ss- Andrus
OF- Maybin, Crawford, Boesch, Belt
Util- Fielder

SP-Hernandez, Verlander, Beachy, Hellickson, Kuroda, Jurrjens, Collmentor
RP- hanrahan, Guerra, Balfour, Johnson

My offense is pretty awesome, but if I gave up Crawford, I could have spectacular pitching as well.

What do you think? Thanks

Your SP depth is great and your OF depth freaking terrible. You cannot afford to make this trade IMO.

This is true. Still...

It's tough because this is a fairly shallow league. I like Weaver better than Crawford, and I think in a 10-teamer you could fill in your outfield capably. (Who's available now?) But, you can also typically find good pitching in a league like that.

I guess I'd lean towards pulling the trigger. I'm not as sold on your rotation as AngryMonkey is -- Hellickson, Kuroda, Jurrjens, and Collmenter are all question marks. Weaver really makes that solid, and looking at the outfielders with mdp greater than 200 (21 players, 10 teams, so 210 players owned) -- Rios, Willingham, Fowler, Duda, Rasmus, Quentin, Tabata... -- I think you go with the better value.

I'm not a big Weaver guy, but you're winning this by a mile. The other owner is taking on a lot of risk hoping that Crawford comes back strong. I would absolutely do this and worry about my OF through another trade of through the wire.

And I agree that after Beachy your SP depth is pretty meh.

I agree with the first part of this. And I disagree with jackie that filling an outfield is easy, I think its much easier to fill a rotation. However, Weaver is a lot more valuable then crawford. I think you have to take the much better player. I would then maybe try to turn around trade him to someone with a bad pitching staff. Maybe you could get someone like hamilton or bruce.

I would do this trade. The fact that it's H2H and not roto makes it easier to replace the OF depth. You can always find someone hot or contributing in a couple of "need" categories if you need to, and your pitching would receive quite the boost.

Make that trade. Your OF's will be pretty week, but its a 10 team league and you should be able to find some decent replacements on the WW throughout the year.

First things first....make this deal now. It's too good to pass up.

Second...is this H2H-Points or H2H-Roto?

If it's points, don't worry about your OF too much. Try to improve it obviously, but don't go overboard. Points are points, it doesn't matter where they come from.
If it's roto, try a little harder to improve that OF, because it's awful. In a 10-team league, most of your OF should probably be on the WW, so you can likely find replacements there...but if you can turn around and flip Felix for someone like McCutchen, then you win all around.

Weaver is overrated.
He got lucky with babip and strand rate last year.
His xFIP was 3.80.
If my OF is that bad, i'm not trading Crawford.
SP is easier to find then OF.
