What does everyone expect from him this year? I snagged him pretty late in a 12 team mixed league....he's looked pretty good so far this year in ST. I know his velocity is down a bit, but the guy knows how to get hitters out. I don't think his k's will be anywhere near the top, but I think he'll help out in ERA and WHIP....thoughts?

Velocity is overrated. Pedro Martinez had his best seasons once to started taking 5mph off his fastball. Jamie Moyer is still pitching for a reason.

In terms of K's, they will probably be down, Santana wasn't throwing it by people like he used to before the injury anyway, but he was still effective. If he can revert back to that form, you'll have a bargain on your hands. But any time a pitcher comes back from his type of injury, how he will preform is a big question mark, and a small sample size like his in spring training isn't going to have many indicators.

From where he gets drafted he's low risk. Might as well just wait and see. I'm optimistic he'll be fine.

Spring training is a small sample size yada yada yada,,, the fact is he looks healthy. His velocity is better right now that it was right before the injury. Its not lights-out Johan but he looks good. Certainly worth a gamble for the price.

I think he is going to have a pretty decent year. His IP obviously won't be high, but I can see a respectable ERA and K statistics by season's end, given he stays healthy.
