Depressed after draft ... is it really that bad? WHIR

10 teams

Head-to-head categories:

Batters Stat Categories: Runs (R), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Batting Average (AVG), On-base + Slugging Percentage (OPS)
Pitchers Stat Categories: Wins (W), Losses (L), Saves (SV), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP), Strikeouts per Nine Innings (K/9)

Roster Positions: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, Util, Util, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL

I didn't go with my usual strategy because I was not used to some of the categories. The inclusion of OPS made me go power early, and I didn't go for scarcity (SS/2B/3B) like I usually do. I also took pitching earlier than I usually do. I'm not pleased with my closers, either; wish I had four (and ones with stronger Ks), since it is a K/9 and L league.

Leave me some comments and advice and I will be sure to help out if you leave me a link.

C Joe Mauer (Round 7)
1B Prince Fielder (Round 1)
2B Dustin Ackley (Round 13)
3B Martin Prado (Round 14)
SS Erick Aybar (Round 15)
OF Justin Upton (Round 2)
OF Josh Hamilton (Round 3)
OF Nelson Cruz (Round 4)
UTIL Michael Bourn (Round 5)
UTIL Jason Heyward (Round 8)
BN Chris Iannetta (Round 21)
BN Brandon Belt (Round 23)

SP Cole Hamels (Round 6)
SP Yu Darvish (Round 9)
SP Brandon Beachy (Round 10)
RP Rafael Betancourt (Round 16)
RP Javy Guerra (Round 19)
P Matt Capps (Round 20)
P Corey Luebke (Round 11)
BN Michael Pineda (Round 12)
BN Chris Sale (Round 17)
BN Neftali Feliz (Round 18)
BN John Danks (Round 22)
BN Mike Minor (Round 24)
BN Scott Baker (Round 25)

its not good. curious why you took Cruz & Bourn so early especially after having 2 OF already. If Jansen wasn't drafted(probly was) I'd want him tied to Guerra. You put yourself in a bad spot taking 5 OF in 8 picks and I suppose the best advice would be to try to trade 1 of the good 1's for a 3rd basemen or other infielder

I was going to say the same thing....going OF for your 2nd through 5th picks def could come back to bite you in the @$$. You also have a lot of depth at SP and RP...but are lacking a 2nd star SP or a real shut down closer (I think Darvish will be good...but don't know if he will be Ace good). I would also look at using one or more OF to upgrade at one or more of the following...3B, SS SP or RP

Thanks for the help on mine

I don't think it's bad, but I would say you need to upgrade at SS or 3B. I'm also not a huge Ackley fan, he strikes me as one of those players who is better in real life than fantasy, but Prado and Aybar are definitely not going to cut it in a 10-team league. i would also try and upgrade to a #2 starter, not sure what Darvish is going to be like.

I would have gone for infield a tad more. Im sure H.Ramirez/Reyes was there with either the 3rd or 4th pick. Cruz 4th is really early also. Id try and trade an OF for ss/3b or an Ace pitcher.
