New Strategy, how did I do? WHIR

Postby tonic889 » Wed Mar 21, 2012 11:23 pm

I'm in a Yahoo standard 5x5 (R, HR, RBI, AVG, SB, W, WHIP, ERA, K, S) Roto 12-team League. I'm trying out a new strategy and I'm feeling really good about it but I'd like other opinions, both about the team in general or anyone that I may have overpaid for.

Hitters:
C - Carlos Santana (Cle) $23
1B - Paul Konerko (CWS) $17
2B - Neil Walker (Pit) $8
3B - Evan Longoria (TB) $37
SS - Asdrubal Cabrera (Cle) $16
OF - Jay Bruce (Cin) $23
OF - B.J. Upton (TB) $17
OF - Adam Jones (Bal) $14
U - Mark Reynolds (Bal - 1B,3B) $10
U - Logan Morrison (Mia - OF) $12

Pitchers:
Ian Kennedy (Ari - SP) $18
Madison Bumgarner (SF - SP) $16
C.J. Wilson (LAA - SP) $17
Josh Johnson (Mia - SP) $13
Brandon League (Sea - RP) $5
Rafael Betancourt (Col - RP) $6
Kyle Farnsworth (TB - RP) $1
Jeremy Hellickson (TB - SP) $1 or Vance Worley (Phi - SP) $1

Bench:
Jeremy Hellickson (TB - SP) $1 or Vance Worley (Phi - SP) $1
Austin Jackson (Det - OF) $1
Danny Espinosa (Was - 2B) $1
Scott Baker (Min - SP) $1
Rickie Weeks (Mil - 2B) $2

I realize I'm a little short in depth at SS and RP but I figure I can use my depth at SP and infield to solve that. Anyway let me know your thoughts. WHIR.

I think you have a pretty well rounded team. I like your MI and your OF...but not so hot on Longoria...but that is my problem. LOL

I would def be a little concerned about RP...League and Betancourt are not bad...neither is a sure fire top closer. I guess you could use your depth at 2B and/or OF to try and fix that. But I don't think it is worth it. While you may not pick up a Papelbon, Motte or Kimbrel...guys like Kimrel, Motte, Walden all came out of nowhere to lock down the closers role and rack up 40+ saves...so I would wait and keep a close eye on the waivers for the first few weeks.

Thanks for helping on mine
