Hey guys, back again. These trade talks have been going on for a while haha.
I had been offered Heyward/Beachy/Espinosa for Pence/McCarthy/Kendrick, turned it down. I did have interest in his backup OF/UTIL player in Shin-soo Choo. So we started talking about him.
First off, here's my league settings and roster.
I'm in a 20-team H2H Cats dynasty where you keep 25 of 29, and start one of each position plus a util, 5 starting pitchers and 5 relievers.
C. Ryan Doumit 1b. Adrian Gonzalez 2b. Howie Kendrick 3b. Evan Longoria Ss. Asdrubal Cabrera Lf. Desmond Jennings Cf. Adam Jones Rf. Hunter Pence Util. Cameron Maybin Be. Jean Segura Be. Ryan Sweeney Be. Alex Presley Be. Jurickson Profar Be. Hak-Ju Lee Be. Brent Morel Be. Wilin Rosario Dl. Victor Martinez
Sp. Yovani Gallardo Sp. Jordan Zimmermann Sp. Brandon McCarthy Sp. John Danks Sp. Ryan Dempster Rp. Jordan Walden Rp. Frank Francisco Rp. Mike Adams Rp. Darren Oliver Rp. Joel Peralta Be. Brian Matusz Be. Taijuan Walker Be. Jeff Niemann
We got into talking about him dealing Choo and Beachy, and just as a preliminary offer I offered Niemann and Pence, to see if he would bite. He really likes Pence this year. Really. Haha.
I also brought up trading him Hak-Ju Lee, since Alex Gonzalez is his only SS.
Anyways, he turned that down and said he wanted a better pitcher than Niemann, and maybe we could do a Pence/better pitcher than Niemann/Lee for Choo/Beachy/someone else.
I kinda wanna offer him something without Lee, just a straight Choo/Beachy for Pence/?... who would you guys suggest?
I wouldn't give up just pence for choo/beachy. I don't like beachy very much. I bet you his ERA's will be in the high 3's. And choo can't come close to replacing pence.

Choo in 2010 earned more then Pence. Now i prefer Pence, but i wouldn't say it isn't close. Why you down on Beachy? A 3.16 xFIP last year. ZIPS has him at 3.32. I would be surprised if it's over 3.50.

Maybe I'm a little hard on Choo, but his AVG dropped so much last year with him getting limited at bats, and Choos full 2010 stats arent better than pence's 2011 except for SB. And beachy the reason I have such a bad taste is because I picked him up late last year and I only remembered bad things. So I decided to run the numbers, in his last 3 months he had an ERA of 4.44 and ATL lost every single one of beachys sept starts (he was only credited with 1 loss).

Agreed. I don't think Choo is as big of a downgrade from Pence as they are being drafted this year. A healthy Choo could easily match Pence. Beachy will be a nice upgrade over either Danks or Dempster. Ask him if he'd go for either one. Leave Lee out of it.
The only bad month Beachy had was Sept. 5.27 era. But that was because his babip was .393, and his strand rate was 62%. His Sept. xFIP was 2.15. The only month his xFIP was over 3 was July.
