*****UPDATES IN BOLD... ALSO SEE MY POST LABELED UPDATED***** It's a 6x6 14 team league with OPS and K/BB being the extra categories. This would be a blockbuster deal and I just can't decide and desperately need the Cafe's help. Here is the trade and there is also a secondary option on the deal:
Do I take this trade as is? Do I consider the other option he's offering?
I RECEIVE Pujols Bourn (I MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET CRAWFORD OR ETHIER IF YOU GUYS THINK IT'S AN UPGRADE) Marmol Nicasio
I GIVE Sandoval Pagan Storen Wandy Carpenter (NOW WANTS BEACHY INSTEAD OF CARPENTER DUE TO INJURY NEWS)
***I have been told that if I sub Beachy for Carpenter he will consider giving me Ethier OR Crawford instead of Bourn. I'm very reluctant to give up Beachy.***
Here is my roster: C: R. Martin 1B: Konerko 2B: Phillips 3B: Sandoval SS: A. Ramirez OF: Kemp OF: Holliday OF: Pagan UT: Ortiz UT: Dunn
Apparently this guy doesn't realize how good Bourn is. You'd be getting (arguably) the two best players in the entire deal.
Pujols and Bourn? Yes please.
Sandoval is solid and you'll have to work to get him replaced, but you're upgrading your 1B/UTL spot and you're upgrading your OF.
You are giving up some decent pitching, but I think the hitting you're getting back is worth it. What is out there on waivers for SP's? You'll have a spot to add back on, and we might be able to rework that bench as well.

I would not sub in Beachy for him to include Ethier or Crawford. Crawford is injured and with his wrist there's no way of knowing what you're going to get. I'm not a fan of Ethier, he doesn't do well against left handed pitching. Ethier has had a significant drop in HR over the last 2 years. I'd rather have Bourn, he helps you more with a lot of SB.
no worries about losing Carpenter or Wandy. Carpenter looks to be hurting and he's almost 37 years old. Wandy has mostly been much better at home than on the road, and the Astros could end up trading him.
I don't know much about Nicasio, but he looks to be having a good spring.
I think I'd rather have Storen over Marmol, but it's not that important.
it does look like a good deal for you, I think you;re getting the better package of players. if you're giving up Sandoval at 3B, who are you replacing him with at 3B?
Oh wow. That makes this trade even more ridiculous. Considering it's 14 teams, both your starting infield and outfield would be absolutely and utterly stacked. Catcher and UTL are hurting a bit (Martin and Dunn particularly), but you can hit hot waiver pick-ups and be fine.
Really, it just comes down to pitching depth, and it's not the worst thing in the world. I'd probably use the free roster spot to pick up another SP, and even clear one of my hitting bench players to add another SP for streaming purposes.

Yes, if Pujols is somehow 3B optional I'd do this deal. It might hurt to lose Carpenter and Wandy versus getting Nicasio, but you can possibly get a similar pitcher off the WW this year. Someone unexpected always emerges, like Doug Fister. And you don't know what you'll get out of Carpenter
BeanTown wrote:I should've mentioned that Pujols is third base eligible in my league so I would just plug him in.
I'd do it for sure. Pujols with 3B eligibility gives him incredible value. even if you wanted to trade Pujols again, 3B is shallow so someone needing a 3B could give you more than what you're getting here.

As if you need more confirmation that this is a good deal for you.

*****UPDATED***** The other owner got cold feet about the Carpenter injury situation and nixed the deal. HOWEVER... he says that if I include Beachy instead of Carp that he'll do the trade as is in the opening post. I'm hesitant to part with Beachy but I have a tendency to fall in love with my guys. Can you guys help me with this? Check out the opening post for the details. If you think I'm better off with Ethier or Crawford rather than Bourn then I can definitely get any one of those guys. I've bolded the updated details in the original post.
Thanks in advance and please leave a link if you need some advice.
