Prospects worth taking given league rules?

Postby pjtroy34 » Tue Mar 20, 2012 11:41 pm

We can keep 10 players, move up 2 rounds from the previous year. Free agents count as 18th rounders for next year.
I've got my 25th round pick remaining.

Who for my last spot, keeping in mind you can only keep a player 3 years after this one:
C: d'Arnaud
SS: Profar, Machado
3B: Arenado
OF: Myers
SP: Delgado, Parker, Peacock, Skaggs, Cole, Taillon, Montgomery, Bundy, Hultzen

I like Profar and Machado the best, but timeline? It is one thing to hold the roster spot all year...another to use a keeper year and still wait. I've read that Machado could potentially make it in September.
Arenado, like and think the Rockies could promote sooner than others listed, but I have Lawrie.
SP...Skaggs and Cole, but timeline?

Since you can only keep 3 years,
Arenado will be up soon
Hultzen too.
Machado might make it next year.

You can't give up Arenado he's going to be a stud.
I'd also keep one of your stud SS prospects, though I think Profar will stick at SS for long term so I'd keep him.

Can you call up Machado and keep him as one of your MLB keeps?
Randall Delgado or jarrod parker probably would be my last keeper b/c they are starting the year in the rotation.

I think it is Profar or Machado. Both could be pushed this year and be in the majors sometime next year. Profar is getting work at 2B and the Rangers have shown that they don't mind pushing a guy (see Andrus). Both are pretty good, I think I would take the flyer on Machado.

Arenado will see time this year, so if you're looking at picking a prospect I'd go with him
