Boesch for Betancourt?

Postby silentjim » Tue Mar 20, 2012 8:02 pm

I'm in a deep 20 team 25 player H2H dynasty league where we count OPS and holds in addition to the normal cats.

I was proposed my Brennan Boesch for his Rafael Betancourt.

Anyone like or dislike this trade? My offense is subpar at best and I have high hopes for Boesch in a healthy season to produce, but Betancourt would give me two closes which pretty much wins me saves in a 20 team league, even if Capps isn't that great. I still have one pick in the draft and will look to take relief pitching (holds) and will probably swap out some of my hitters for players available as well (Helton, Barney, etc)

Don't do it. Keep your high hopes and find a closer elsewhere. Betancourt is 36 and has bounced around. Besides the small 2 year contract, no real reason Brothers isn't closing soon anyways.

I like it. I'm not all that high on Boesch and Betancourt put up some ridiculous numbers last year, I'm buying into him.

Thanks all. ;-D

Accepted the trade and am hoping for a nice run this season. Here's to Betancourt striking out a ton and walking none.

Anything available in FA for prospects? You have nothing on your bench should anything and it will happen to Chip.

No not really. Every good 3B prospect has gotten snatched up, but there are a handful of decent veteran 3B that I'll probably end up having to nab or stream depending on the situation.

Macier Izturis, Scott Rolen, Casey Blake, Placido Polanco, Justin Turner, Greg Dobbs, and Chone Figgins are all guys I'm having to keep in mind.

Will Middlebrooks, Josh Vitters, Zack Cox, and Matt Dominguez are there as far as deep prospects, but I kind of need someone to play a little now, or at least be in the majors.

The guy with Jose Bautista is trying to move him for some depth on offense, but my team is a bunch of guys who produce kind of under the radar, so nothing really seems to fit. Especially since I'm not interested in giving up Cano.

Additionally, am I thinking to long term on this: Guy proposed his Ortiz and Jesus Guzman for my Mike Carp and Nate Schierholtz?

I wanted to reject it almost immediately.

Josh Vitters ;-D
Some are high on Middlebrooks, meh you could add him ot your prospect roster. I'd add Vitters to your MLB roster and stash him away.
I might take a chance on Figgins if he can hit about 265 this year he'll be good value think Bonifacio.
