Not that I am actively looking to trade Carlos Santana, but I have had one persistent owner who keeps bugging me to see what I would accept. This is his team in an 18 team dynasty: Catcher Devin Mesoraco Victor Martinez (C/1B)
1B Ike Davis
2B Aaron Hill Ryan Raburn (2B/OF) Daniel Murphy (1B/2B/3B)
3B Brett Lawrie
SS Mike Aviles (SS/2B/3B) Sean Rodriguez (2B/3B/SS)
OF Nick Markakis Brennan Boesch Josh Willingham Colby Rasmus Coco Crisp Chris Heisey Jeff Francoeur Rajai Davis
Util Travis Hafner
SP Cole Hamels James Shields Mat Latos Brandon Morrow Mike Minor Juan Nicasio Roy Oswalt Phil Hughes Andrew Miller
RP Francisco Rodriguez Glen Perkins Joel Peralta Sean Marshall
Minors Hak-Ju Lee, SS Michael Choice, OF AJ Cole, SP Kaleb Cowart, 3B Jesse Biddle, SP Jose Fernandez, SP Robbie Grossman, OF Joe Panik, SS/2B Dillon Howard, SP
I told him I want MLB talent back in return, not prospects. I told him I want Hamels, Lawrie, and Mesoraco for Santana. Is that too much to ask? My biggest needs are 3B (my starter right now is Danny Valencia) and SP. And of course I would need a catcher back and that is where Mesoraco comes in.

That seems like an awful lot. Santana is a good catcher but Hamels and Lawrie are both going much earlier than him. You can try the offer but I don't think it will happen and might be insulting. I was originally thinking Lawrie and Mesoraco which is slightly overpaying for Santana but if the guy wants him that bad then good for you.

It seems you're overvaluing Santana in a big way. I don't think he would even give you Hamels OR Lawrie straight up for Santana. He'd be right to not do it--Santana's not worth that.
I'd pursue one of those 2, but not both. I'd ask for Mesoraco/Lawrie/Mike Minor maybe...but you'd probably have to add a 2nd player to the deal to even make it happen.

THIS, Santana is a CATCHER who has only played 201 games. He's not worth all of that

A Catcher who hits 25+ HR with 80+RBI with dual C/1B eligibility. Some have him ranked as the top C in fantasy, but he is a top 3 catcher and a top 10 fantasy 1B stat wise.
Granted he is not worth the package I suggested, but remember this is a dynasty league. Santana is still young and those in the above package Mesoraco/Lawrie/Mike Minor have yet to produce consistent numbers in the majors, outside of Lawrie who came up at the end of last season.
