Possible Kendrys Morales Deal. WHIR

Postby Leiter Fan » Tue Mar 20, 2012 1:07 pm

I am in a 12-team 6x6 H2H daily transaction keeper league that counts hold and OPS. One of the owners in my league messed up on his draft and has Ryan Howard as his first baseman (backed up by Garrett Jones and Edwin Encarnacion). I waited on first base myself to address other positions beforehand, and ended up with multiple prospects and reclamation projects at first - namely Adam Dunn, Kendrys Morales, Paul Goldschmidt and Brandon Belt.

The other owner has asked me to make him an offer for Kendrys, who he would like for his first base slot. Can anyone see a deal that makes sense for me? I was thinking of Morales for Jesus Montero straight up, even though I already have Posey at catcher.

Thans for the help, and as always let me know if you need help with any of yours. Just be sure to leave a link!

My roster:
C: Buster Posey (C)
1B: Adam Dunn (1B)
Paul Goldschmidt (1B)
Brandon Belt (1B, LF)
2B: Jason Kipnis (2B)
SS: Starlin Castro (SS)
3B: Evan Longoria (3B)
LF: Carlos Gonzalez (LF, CF, RF)
CF: Jacoby Ellsbury (CF)
RF: Jason Heyward (RF)
Util: Kendrys Morales (1B, RF)

SP: Cole Hamels, Mat Latos, Jordan Zimmermann, Max Scherzer, Francisco Liriano, Matt Moore, Mike Minor
RP: Drew Storen, Jason Motte, Frank Francisco, Vinnie Pestano

His roster:
C: Matt Weiters (C)
1B: Ryan Howard (1B)
Garrett Jones (1B, RF)
Edwin Encarnacion (1B, RF)
2B: Brandon Phillips (2B)
Neil Walker (2B)
SS: Troy Tulowitzki (SS)
3B: Alex Rodriguez (3B)
LF: Delmon Young (LF)
Mike Trout (LF, CF, RF)
CF: Cameron Maybin (CF)
Angel Pagan (CF)
RF: Jay Bruce (RF)
Util: Jesus Montero (Util)

SP: Cliff Lee, Madison Bumgarner, Josh Beckett, Gio Gonzalez, Jhoulys Chacin
RP: Sergio Santos, Ryan Madson, Joaquin Benoit

Or is Kendrys Morales the best of my possibilities at first base, thereby making me crazy to trade him?

Hmmm, u should def trade one of those 1b.

I think DUNN is in for a comeback yr, he was too good for so many yrs to just fall off like he did last yr

I would say try Goldschmidt for Montero, if he doesn't like him, then I would prob do the morales deal. Lot of question marks around morales, as well as around Montero. Good thing is u have depth at 1B to fill in for that U spot if Montero starts off slow (which in that ballpark could happen.

Thanks! Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I don't think that you're crazy to trade him. I do think that he's your best option. The problem that I foresee is that the other owner is likely expecting a discount. You can ask for Montero, but I highly doubt that it gets accepted. I would personally wait for Morales to build up his value again. If you hit on him and Dunn then you're golden.
