Keeper trade Felix/Napoli WHIR

Postby germani40 » Mon Mar 19, 2012 12:03 pm

I am thinking about offering this deal. I have no other catcher. I would be left with the options of Lucroy, Doumit, Martin, Suzuki, and other guys in that range.

I get
Felix Hernandez

I give
Napoli
Alexei Ramirez/Stephen Drew
Keep
C Napoli
1 Butler/Davis/Hosmer/Dunn
2 Young/Utley/Zobrist
3 Moustakas
SS Bonifacio/E Cabrera
OF Grandy/Choo/Reddick/Kubel
SP Anderson/C Lee/Oswalt
Haren/Moore/A Sanchez
RP Soriano/Myers/Johnson/Aceves/Parnell

I think value-wise, you almost have to do it. I love Napoli, but to get a top-tier starter for a catcher is too good to pass up. The only problem though is that your pitching is already pretty strong and your offense is looking relatively weak, especially with the Utley concerns. Wait to see other opinions on this. I vote yes, purely because getting King Felix for Napoli is a solid deal any day of the week... But you might need to have a game plan for acquiring some offense after this deal, or you might want to consider going in a different direction, such as trading SP for offense first. Good luck.

If you could get this deal done, then it is a steal. Napoli is over-rated IMO and Alexei is a replaceable SS (Drew is going to be on the DL to start the season).

I don't see the other guy accepting this deal though. Felix is a stud SP and it will likely take more than this to get him.

All I have to say is good luck.

It'd probably take some package involving Hosmer to get King Felix (at least, in that guy's mind).
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

I have to agree that it probably won't be enough to land Felix. But it could be a good starting point.
