Trade Zimmerman for SP or 2B/SS?

Postby captkirkcud » Sun Mar 18, 2012 11:49 am

This is my 12 team roto standard Auto-Pick team. I will be doing my live draft H2H team this week. I always do my roto team Auto, i like the challenge of trying to fix the crap that Yahoo gives me to start out with. My 1st impression of this team is i like my offense but not much depth on bench, and my pitching is total crap besides Lester.....But i can fix staff via waiver wire and FA pool once season starts....I also have #2 waiver move. May also try and move 3B Zimmerman and sure up either 2B or SS position or SP. Please rate?

C - Brian McCann
1B-Michael Young
2B-Jason Kipnis
3B-Evan Longoria
SS-Alexei Ramirez
OF-Justin Upton
OF-Matt Holiday
OF-Carlos Beltran
UT-Ryan Zimmerman (3B)
UT-Jason Werth (OF)
B -Torii Hunter (OF)
B -Matt Joyce (OF)

RP-John Axford
RP-Ryan Madson
RP-Brandon League

I would go for SP with Zimmerman. You should be able to net a solid #2 starter for him, or perhaps two #3's if you find a desperate manager. Kipnis/Ramirez aren't sexy but they will do the job, so no need to go heavy on an upgrade there. You're likely only going to get Phillips or Uggla anyway, which would be a statistical downgrade from Zimmerman anyway.

I've seen worse autopick teams before, as you actualyl got pretty fair with the bats. As usual, you are a little closer heavy. I would not be in panic mode, but it seems like Zimmerman is your best bet to land a higher end pitcher. Kipnis I could live with to begin season, no issues here.

I like idea of building through FA and Waivers.... Zimmerman is a great potential spare part if need be. I'd focus on pitching side of building.

If I was trading Zimmerman, I would look to get a starter. I would first try and move a closer or two to a team that might need some saves. Your 2B and SS are fine not where I would focus my attention on right now.
