I take Jeter (and no I am not a Yankees fan). He will hit .40 points higher, and get 20 more SBs, and get more Rs. Yes Tejada will hit 20 more homers and get more RBIs, but in a roto league, 20 SBs will do a lot more for you in the standings than 20 HRs, and I will take the .40 BA any day since Rs and RBIs will pretty much be a wash.

The only thing I like about Tejada is that he always plays 162 games. Otherwise, he is a guy that had one really great year and some pretty good years, while Jeter is a more consitent performer.

Tejada is going to rip the cover off of the ball this season, IMO. In fantasy, I like him better than Jeter. He had an off year last season and the move to Balt should help him. As for real baseball, he is a much better SS than Jeter, and may be a better teammate. Jeter gets cred for being a great team guy and the glue that holds the evil empire together, but the selfish bastage makes the best SS in the game play third while handicapping his team with his lack of range at SS.

It is more likely that last year was a pretty typical baseline year for Tejada, while the MVP was the year that was the aberration. He has not proven that he successfully hit for average. I will also say that Renteria is more valuable than Tejada in fantasy terms.

Tejada.

I'd pick him over Jeter last year too, but especially this year. He's going to be playing in a hitters' paradise in Baltimore, and he's going to have Lopez, Palmeiro, etc. hitting around him. He's going to have a big year.

Camden is actually a nuetral park. Palmerio is old and will likely slip substantially this year, Lopez will come nowhere near his career year. That line-up is actually not that good.

First of all - I think it depends on the type of production you are looking for. Dont forget - Tejada wasnt the only one with a down yr last yr - Jeter had a bad yr too.

For value purposes - since Tejada will generally go a rd or 2 later than Jeter, give me Jeter.
