Where to take Ryan Howard in a Keeper

We have 12 teams, H2H, 2 DL spots and keep 3 players.
Keeper costs are as follows:
Drafted -> Cost next year
1 -> Cannot keep
2 -> 1
3 -> 2
4 -> 3
5 -> 4
6 -> 5
7 -> 5
8 -> 6
9 -> 7
10 -> 8
11 -> 9
12 -> 9
13 -> 10

MDP from the stickied thread has Howard going 122 overall, which would be the 2nd pick of the 10th round. I will be able to pick up a FA after the draft when I put him on the DL and he will hopefully help out in the 2nd half / playoffs. And on top of that he will be a great keeper for next year.

I'm thinking 8th round. Where would you take him?

He was in decline before the injury so I wouldn't want him as a keeper in the 5th round next year in a 12 team league. His value is certainly higher in H2H than Roto though since he should be around by the playoffs.

122 overall is the 2nd pick in the 11th round. That still seems kind of early to me for a guy I only expect 1/2 a season out of. He should get a little bump in H2H formats and as a round keeper for next year he is interesting so if you are willing to gamble I would say the 10th round.

Yeah I'm not bothering with him at all. Rollins questions whether Howard plays at all this season. He's not a doctor, but he's more likely to tell the truth than the front office is. I play roto so I don't want his dead weight on my team for half a season.

Last night he went in the 13th round of my 12 team keeper league (which counts OPS instead of BA).

However, each team has 7 keepers in that league, most of which would have been drafted ahead of Howard were there not any keepers.
