thanks HOOTIE. I can always count on you for awesome advice. I really like nicasio this yr and think i like him more than demptster and nolasco in this lge because of his youth and upside. How do you feel about him this yr?
I like Nicasio as a last SP. Dempster is underrated, because his era was misleading. But i take Francisco over everybody, he's a nice closer.

Backend starter, why not roll the dice on someone like Santana or Bedard. High Risk high reward. If they flame out oh well it shouldn't really hurt a staff like yours.
If it's your backend starter, why would you not go for boom (or bust?)
Johan Santana has to be your first option here. Former Cy Young winner, and seems to finally be getting back into shape. And, just like the previous poster said, the next name on that list you need to go for is Bedard. He's in a great division--if he can stay healthy, he could go for 10-15 wins, keep an ERA under 3.50 and K in the high 100's. I bet you one of these two finishes the year in the top 30.
We all know what Dempster is going to be, we all know what Gavin Floyd is going to be, so why would we even bother?

I will take that bet on those 2 making top 30. Dempster in the last 4 years, has had a xFIP of 3.76 or lower. While posting a 8+ K/9. Santanas last 2 years he has pitched, he had a 4+ xFIP, and his K/9 has dropped under 7.
