Who to target in draft?

Postby pizzaboy76 » Mon Mar 12, 2012 2:10 pm

12 team 5x5 roto keeper league. We keep 15 and draft to fill up the rest of the roster. I have the 8th pick in every round (not a snake draft). My team;

C - M. Montero
1B - Konerko
2B - Pedroia
3B - Zimmerman
SS -
OF - Ellsbury
OF - Hamilton
OF - Jennings
OF - Bourjos
DH-
IF -
Bench - Harper

SP - Gio
SP - CJ Wilson
SP - Gallardo
SP - Romero
SP -
RP - Putz
RP - League
RP -
P-

These are the top 20 players available. Who should I target? (Number is parenthesis is overall rank)

I'm assuming McCann, Pujols, Tex, and CC will be taken. After that it's a crap shoot. Was thinking of targeting Rollins, Kendrick or Young with my 1st pick. the grabbing BA player after that. Seem like a plan or would you go another route?

C - McCann(60), Mauer(106)
1B - Pujols (3), Tex (32), M. Young (2B,3B) (68), Ike Davis (98)
2B - Kendrick (OF) (46), Weeks (97)
3B - Youkilis (56)
SS - Rollins (63)
OF - Victorino (67), Crawford (77), Werth (80)
SP - CC (36), A. Sanchez (101), Scherzer (128), Jimenez (129)
RP - Axford (99), Rivera (104), Papelbon (112)

I'd say target rollins, the drop off after him at SS is huge, especially with 15 keepers being kept per team

Rollins is a logical choice since you need a SS. If he's not that I would target Michael Young. He'd plug into your IF spot pretty well and give you some flexibility if you should loose Zimmerman or Pedroia for any period of time.

With SS thin, I'm now thinking he might be selected by the time my pick comes around.

So do I go with Young or Kendrick (I like the flexibility they offer), or Youkilis (like the power, but injury prone), or do I grab one of the OF's? Who would be your top 3-4 After Pujols, Tex, McCann, CC and Rollins?

I'm not a Rollins fan.
He wouldn't be my 5th choice.
I like Young here.
