Head to Head Draft Advice....1st timer

Postby cfrat24 » Mon Mar 12, 2012 1:06 pm

I have been doing fantasy baseball for years, basically just roto leagues. I have never done a head to head league before.

Its a 10 team league, might become 12 teams, basic head to head points system (so ive been told)

From my understanding....SPS are much more valuable in H2H leagues.

Any advice in drafting in the first few rounds? Should I be taking 2 sps in the first 5 rounds? How valuable are RPS?

Any advice would be appreciated in coming up with a draft strategy, draft is in 2 weeks so I have time to figure it all out.

Thanks!!!

Top flight starters are generally more valuable than usual. Especially if you have a limited number of IP and/or GS allowances for the week. I've been in H2H leagues in the past where I would have 2-3 real solid starters and then a collection of guys that I would use depending upon matchup/splits. It didn't mean that I changed my drafting style too much compared to my Roto league though.

I did however need to change it with offense. 2-3 steals a week from someone like Michael Bourn in Roto is nice. That same 2-3 steals in H2H could still lose you the category. You typically want to stock pile power guys. If you can win HR, AVG, R & RBI every week you only need 2 pitching categories.

IMO SBs are not as important, one guy won't win the category for you like they can, well used to per say, in SBs. Go with what Element says for a drafting startegy

thanks for the advice, depending where I draft will determine if i take a SP with my 1st or 2nd pick, but seems like I should get my hands on a top starter
