So I'm in a 16 team H2H redraft league with an insane amount of categories: Batters Stat Categories: Runs (R), Hits (H), Doubles (2B), Triples (3B), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Walks (BB), Strikeouts (K), Batting Average (AVG), On-base + Slugging Percentage (OPS)
Pitchers Stat Categories: Wins (W), Losses (L), Complete Games (CG), Shutouts (SHO), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Holds (HLD), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP), Quality Starts (QS)

I have 2nd overall pick and really want to draft Brett Lawrie, and I know that because we are in Toronto he will be taken by the guy with 3rd overall pick when we come back for our 2nd round pick (yes we both feel he's worth 2nd round value in this format). My question is, is it worth it to trade to 4th overall so I can still draft a Kemp or Braun or Bautista at 4th and then grab Lawrie 2nd round? Or, do I keep my 2nd overall pick and take Cabrera or Pujols and then end up with a high end SP like Weaver or Haren in the 2nd round?

I'd almost prefer 4th overall, but there's no way I'd be taking Lawrie in the second round unless you want to sacrifice a better team for a more fun team.

I can tell you right now this kid is going to be a monster, like we are talking Ryan Braun here. Don't believe me, I wouldn't expect it. But I'm telling you this in all honesty: HE IS AN UBER STUD AND YOU SHOULD HOP ON BOARD.

Could it happen? Sure. He has the tools. But I'm not going to chance a 2nd round pick on a player with 150 big league at bats. Just because we don't live in Toronto doesn't mean that we haven't seen him play or know what he's capable of. I think that you must also consider that one option here is that your mind is clouded with homerism. If it were a league for just fun, as GF mentioned, sure. But I wouldn't think that you would need advice from strangers on what you consider fun. If you want a competitive team that it would be a wiser choice to play it safer with that selection. There are some pretty good players available in that 2nd round.
