My League: 10 team - H2H Each - keep up to 14 guys (we get compensated with draft picks if we keep less then 14 guys...if we keep 3 guys we start drafting in the 4th round etc...) Unlimited weekly acquisitions, 10 pitching starts limit, 25 man roster (C,1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 3OF, 2Utility, 3 Starters, 2 Relief, 2 Pitchers, includes 8 bench any position, 2DL)
My team: Votto, Kinsler, Beltre, Lester, Bourne, Pineda, Choo, Ortiz, Howard, Alexei Ramirez, Nick Swisher, Yadier Molina, Jeff Francouer, Carlos Beltran, Torii Hunter, Jemile Weeks, Heath Bell, Jason Motte, Wandy Rodriguez, Trevor Cahill, Tim Hudson, JJ Putz, Brandon McCarthy, Joakim Soria, Vogelsong, ted lilly.
Best players not on rosters I will target on draft day: Mark Reynolds, Yu Darvish, Paul Goldschmidt, Cespedes, Doug Fister
Who would you keep? Who would you target in a trade? Should I only keep Votto and redraft starting in the 2nd round? There will be some good players on other teams available. How do Walks, TBs, quality Starts categories effect H2H Each strategy? What the hell do I do with Ryan Howard? Is Ortiz worth keeping for my utility position? Any answers, tips, ideas would be good. Feel free to make random observations and give me a general idea for how to approach the season. Thanks!! -Zak
Votto, Kinsler, Beltre, are good keepers, easily they are arguably some of the best in their positions. And you lock up your infield positions which is key. Lester is another good one, he looks to be your best pitcher and so you might as well have atleast one ace to start with. Bourne and Choo are both excellent choices as well.. and the rest i wouldnt reach for.
Thanks for your replies guys. Thoughts on Pineda? Hard to cut a 22 year old physical freak who will get K's and incredible run support for many years to come.. I'm a Mariner fan so I watched him grow through our system.. great guy, great fastball, hard to let him go.
I understand that you have some good players, but overall your team seems weak to me. How did you do last year? Are there any teams that are worse than yours, that you think may dump their entire team? If no, I think you're safe dumping everyone but Votto.
Think of it this way...is there anyone else in your league that if they dumped their entire team and it was just you and him drafting in the early rounds, would you be worse off if you wound up with about half of his best players?
With Darvish, Goldschmidt, and Cespedes out there, I would go for it. Forget about Reynolds though. He is never going to improve his average.
