Im in a 20 team Dynasty League where you keep 20 players at the end of each season. I inherited a real bad, old team in the middle of last season. Im rebuilding on the fly. The league can really overvalue big prospects. Here are the 21 players that I've narrowed it down to:
Jesus Montero - C/DH Saltalamacchia - C Willin Rosario - C Anthony Rizzo - 1B Chris Davis - 1B/3B Brandon Phillips - 2B Erick Aybar - SS Mike Moustakas - 3B Chin Soo-Choo - OF Hak-Ju Lee -SS Chris Heisey - OF
Dan Haren Mike Minor Phil Humber Henderson Alvarez Shawn Marcum Dellin Betances Johnny Venters
For the last 2 spots these are the guys I'm considering:
Johan Santana - Hoping that he performs well and I can get something for him Kyle Blanks - As you can tell, I need power, and I'm hoping that Blanks turns it around. Will Venable - He's going to start for the Padres and is a decent source of SB's, plus he's young.
I've been trying to acquire power which is why I took chances on picking up Davis and Blanks, except that Davis is actually starting for Baltimore, which is why he's definitely on my keeper list.
What do you all think? I'd love to turn this team around and make it competitive. I'm stumped. I will help you out with your questions too. Thanks.
It is a H2H league. The draft is tomorrow and its a hard league to make trades in, I made a bunch last season trying to appeal to guys that were in the race. So I traded Bedard and someone else for Choo, who was injured and Jesus Montero. Its also why I haven't posted the other players on the bench, I had to cut them prior to the draft, I just have to cut one more player. The cats are:
If those three are your choices, I don't see why its not worth a roll of the dice with Santana. So far everything is going right on schedule with spring training. Those other player choices aren't going to make a difference between competing and not competing this year.
If Santana plays well you can always flip him to a team that is in contention.
