12 team H2H 5 x 5 start 1 each pos. and DH/start 5 SP 2 RP $255 salary cap (not auction, salaries are set via Sporting News) B/C of slary cap, I'll throw out some sets to choose from. I'm addressing my Catcher position with these sets. Some sets bolster my SP, some my RP, etc. It boils down to if you think going into the season with my 2 questionable RPs is okay, do I go big on catcher? Or do I find good value at catcher and go big on 1 more top RP or top SP. I have $28 left.
FIRST GROUP-SPLITTING MONEY EVENLY and also getting a mid-level SP Set1- Yadier Molina/Ryan Dempster Set2- Miguel Montero/Alexi Ogando Set3-Nick Hundley/Hiroki Kuroda (or Chacin or Ervin Santana)
SECOND GROUP-My pitching is OK for now, so go big on a catcher Set4- Joe Mauer/Chris Narveson (or Niemann)
THIRD GROUP-Take a sleeper (or cheaper) catcher to bolster my SP Set5-Salvador Perez/Tommy Hanson
FOURTH GROUP-Take a cheaper catcher and bolster my RP Set6- Salvador Perez/John Axford (or Storen, Putz, Marmol, Betancourt or other "above average closers) Set7- A.J. Pierzynski/John Axford (Storen, etc)
My team- C- 1b - Votto $16 (1 half price player, can't cut if we take the discount) 2b - R. Weeks $23 3b - Moustakas $8 (discount, brought up from minors) ss - Tulowitzki $31 OF1- Swisher $8 OF2- Heyward $15 OF3 - McCutchen $29 DH- Konerko $21
SP1- Bumgarner $20 SP2 - Beachy $8 (discount, brought up from minors) SP3- Da. Hudson $18 SP4- Luebke $11 SP5- C. Sale $4 RP1 - B. Myers $2 RP2- J. Guerra $2
I figured it wouldn't take long for someone to ask...becuase I'm trying to be greedy! ha ha
We keep 4 every year. But any minor leaguers you "bring up" are extra keepers. So I was gonna try to be greedy and keep him on the farm 1 more year, so next year I can have him as an extra keeper (for half price BTW) Beachy and Moustakas were extra keepers for me this year (it was hard to keep Beachy down last year but I was cruising along without him)
But if that's the route you think I should take, then okay. i was just trying to be greedy. ( Jesus M. would cost me only $5 this season.)

...and if I choose this route I could add another prospect (or put Pomeranz into my minors)
If you want to be greedy with Montero thats fine, by next year he will have a full year under his belt and will definitely have C eligibility.
If you want to be greedy, I think I go with Perez/Hanson or Perez Axford.
Perez has as much upside as anyone at C, not named Montero so I think he could be an absolute steal and stud, and if he bombs, it won't really matter since you have Montero waiting in the wings.
I love Bumgarner and Beachy this year, but think you could add another pitcher with the potential to be an ace if he gets it together in Hanson.
