I am on the border of being a playoff team. 6 make it I have myself in the 5-7 range. Its a keeper league with 16 players kept. Last year I was an expansion team so I didnt have a "stud" to build my team around. I am thinking about making a move that would hurt me for this season but in the future would help me significantly I think. I would get significantly younger but I am also getting rid of 2 studs and a quality 2nd baseman in Utley. Is this a trade worth doing. We keep players forever at no cost.
I give Cliff Lee Curtis Granderson Chase Utley
I get Carlos Gonzalez Bryce Harper
Keep C Napoli 1 Butler/Davis/Hosmer/Dunn 2 Young/Utley/Zobrist 3 Moustakas SS Bonifacio/E Cabrera OF Grandy/Choo/Reddick/Kubel SP Anderson/C Lee/Oswalt Haren/Moore/A Sanchez RP Soriano/Myers/Johnson/Aceves/Parnell
I wouldn't do this deal either. I am hugely high on Harper, but I am down on CarGo so it cancels it out. Lee is going to be a stud for the next few years even with his age, Granderson may fall off some, but hitting in the Yankee Stadium bandbox is going to help him crush, and Utley is worth holding onto in case he captures some of what he had.
What if it was granderson and utley, lee and utley, or lee and granderson

Still no. Very much no.
If you feel like you absolutely must deal proven studs for prospects, you should be getting a handful of prospects back. As much hype as there is with Harper, he may never be as good as Granderson is right now.
